The Story of Chain-Folding: From Polymers to Proteins

  • [2020-11-05]

    Speaker:  HU Wenbing

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Nanjing University

    Time: 2020-11-06, 16:00

Place: ROOM 9004, Hefei National Laboratory Building

Organizer: Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at the Microscale

The lecture will start with the discovery history of molecular chain-folding. The origin and the development of chain-folding upon polymer crystallization were attributed to the intramolecular crystal nucleation model and the growth kinetic equation of lamellar crystals. The polymer chain-folding in crystallization can serve as the prototype model to understand the folding, unfolding and misfolding of proteins. (Physics Reports 2018, 747, 1-50)
