“Welcome to University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and share this academic feast!” Professor XU Wu, Committee Secretary of USTC says in his welcome speech. About 2,500 years ago, the ancient sage Micius, who was known for his hardworking spirit and scientific theories, was born in China; today, on April 14th, the Micius Forum, named after the sage, raises its curtain in Hefei, Anhui.

The “Micius Forum” is dedicated to providing a high-level platform for outstanding young scholars who are devoted to academic research and mind for the future of humanity. More than 200 young scientists and well-known scholars from all over the world gather to discuss innovation and talents recruitment this time.
Mr. XU and QIAN Yansong, member of the Standing Committee of Hefei and minister of Organization Department, give their welcome speeches. When the practical and unpretentious spirit of USTC meets the profound innovative background of Hefei, new breakthroughs and developments sprout. Secretary XU and Minister QIAN sent their sincere invitations to outstanding scholars, welcoming talents to reside in Hefei and join USTC for common progress.
Welcome speeches are followed by briefings about USTC and Hefei City. The president of USTC, BAO Xinhe, introduces the development of university and further plans. He looks forward to attracting more talents and achieving better development by taking the advantage of the 60th anniversary of university; ZHU Ce, deputy mayor of Hefei City, introduces the development of Hefei and its policies for talents. “Hefei is a fertile land for innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Mayor ZHU. “I hope this piece of land will yield fruitful results.” Professor CHU Jiaru from Human Resource Department of USTC introduces the academic environment and attractive policies to the scholars.

After a short break, Academician of Chinese Academy of Science LIU Ming, BIAN Xiuwu and CHEN Xianhui make reports for participants, which covers three different yet related areas: “new engineering”, “new medical science”, and basic disciplines.
This forum is jointly held by Hefei City and USTC. During the forum, experts and scholars will participate in component forums on various disciplines and experience the academic atmosphere of USTC and the innovative environment of Hefei.
