USTC Harvests High Percentage of Well-Cited Papers for 2009

  • The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) beat the other universities of China with 22% of well-cited papers, according to the 2009 statistical data of Chinese S&T papers released by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China on November 26, 2010.

     

    Of USTC's 1568 papers indexed by SCI for 2009, 345 papers have been reputed as well-cited papers that have higher citations than national average level within a certain discipline. The 22% of well cited papers for 2009 is 5% higher than 2008. With that high percentage of well cited papers, USTC outshined the other universities in this respect.

     

    USTC has a total of 7975 papers indexed by SCI for 2000-2009 with altogether 74314 citations. The average citations per paper are 9.32, much higher than national average level of 5.87 citations per paper. It is worth noting that the paper "Superconductivity at 43 K in SmFeAsO1-xFx", published in Nature in 2008 by Prof. CHEN Xianhui from USTC, gave rise to 572 citations. Besides, the other two papers that involved his efforts have been selected as the most influential international academic paper of China for 2009.
