As we Chinese tirelessly continue to battle against the coronavirus, First Affiliated Hospital of University of Science and Technology of China has assigned three batches of medical staff to Wuhan for emergent assistance by the 15th February. To take care of these heroes’ children, USTC Grass Youth Volunteer Association as well as USTC graduate voluntary teaching group were trusted to organize an “one-by-one” online tutoring team for those children of front-line medical staff as a demonstration of rear support to fight coronavirus epidemic.
Students taking on-line class before computers
Since the notice of recruiting USTCers as volunteers to offer online “one-by-one” academic support for those children of front-line medical staff to Wuhan was released, it immediately got an overwhelmingly response among USTC students. After selection and pre-training, the first batch of “one-by-one” volunteer group has been organized to help those children for their schoolwork through live video streaming.
Another thing noteworthy is that earlier on 2th February 2020, USTC had recruited volunteers to implement online public service classes with free answering questions assistance for middle and high school students to outpour their own effort to strive against the outbreak of virus. According to the statistics, the total online voluntary teaching service has amounted over 10,000 hours, and there were about 500 middle and high school students every day joining this online tutoring activity.
Recruiting message for volunteers
It’s the worst of times, it’s the best of USTC guardian angels of volunteers. USTC would continually play a steadfast role in the voluntary service and shoulder the social responsibility to do the best to spread warmth among needed ones.
