Alumni Technology Forum of University of Science and Technology (USTC) was held on September 19th, 2018. DU Jianghui, vice- governor of Anhui presented great congrats to the 60th birthday of USTC, showed welcome to alumni all over the world, and wished USTC an even more prosperous future on behalf of Anhui province. USTC president, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) BAO Xinhe delivered his warm greets to alumni and wish USTC a happy and meaningful birthday. USTC vice-president, academician of CAS, DU Jiangfeng hosted the forum.

Vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), academician of CAS WANG Zhizhen joined USTC in 1959. She shared her joyful stories with USTC. Her delightful and inspiring thoughts, energetic andenthusiastic speech encouraged everyone. She showed sincere thanks to USTC and encourage every generation holding on to the spirit of USTC,” socialist-minded and professionally proficient, associating truth with fact. Academician of CAS, CHEN yong, alumnus of 6013 introduced his research on earthquake wave. He overcame severe experimental environment, dedicated to the geology of China and made tremendous breakthroughs. Everyone is touched by his respect to science and passion to the nation. Alumnus of 732, academician of CAS RAO Zihe introduced his study on prevention of infectious diseases. He explain the profound knowledage in simple terms. Academician RAOand his team have protected the public from horrible contagion in silence. Academician of United States National Academy of Sciences (NAS) YANG Peidong, alumnus of 8812, emphasis the importance of raising questions in research. He encouraged young students keeping the curiosity to the world around us and remaining creative. Research fellow LIXuelong, alumnus of 9406 proposed a speech of his work on ocean optics. Everyone was attracted to his witty words and classic lines.

Then the “High-level Forum: Technology Advance and Nation Prospect” was held. Alumnus from different generation and students of USTC raised questions actively. The questions vary from how to educate young children, how to corporate with local governments to the influence of cut-edge innovations to enterprises. We can peak the wisdom and draw inspiration in all answers. After this section, everyone stood up and sang school song together. Each one presented is moved by the sonorous song, feeling extremely proud as an” USTCer”. President BAO offered USTC custom-made porcelain to alumnus. The whole forum enhanced the connection between alumnus and USTC, giving students a chance to feel the manner of masters. Alumni Technology Forum of USTC is a unique present to USTC 60th birthday.
