On November 18, 2020, the “Clean Plate for Yogurt” campaign was launched in the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) at the east campus, appealing to USTCers at school cafeterias immediately. USTCers can swap their clean plates for yogurt.
All 100 bottles of yogurt were given out only in 15 minutes. “This campaign promotes our awareness of valuing food in a heart-warming way, and teaches us how to reduce food wastage practically”, said a student.
This latest campaign effectively cultivates thrifty habits and fosters a school environment where waste is shameful and thriftiness is applaudable.

During the following one month, other school cafeterias also offered yogurt for USTCers who cleaned their plates, emphasizing the importance of thriftiness and food wastage reduction. It’s worth mentioning that the campaign won’t be held successfully without relative departments’ cooperation in materials supplies, medium publicity, order maintenance and so on.
Every bottle of yogurt contains USTCers’ commitment to eliminating waste and saving food. After arousing great responses and enthusiastic participation in one and a half month, the “Clean Plate for Yogurt” campaign finally sets off at the end of December. It plays a positive role in preventing food wastage and enhancing campus culture of refraining from luxury and upholding frugality.
