Four students from the university won the first prize, seven won the second and two won the third in the 11th Chinese Mathematics Competitions of Chinese College Students (CMC) held on April 17th in Wuhan, a heroic city that has made great contribution to combating the pandemic.

Began at 8:30 and lasted for three hours, students from all over the country competed in the final contest. USTCers achieved excellent results in this competition as usual. Three of them occupied the first prize and four won the second prize of mathematics major in Senior Group. Meanwhile, one of them was awarded the first prize, three the second prize and two the third for non-mathematics majors.
Of 45 students who obtained the first prize of mathematics major in senior group, WU Xiongyu ranked seventh, YAO Yichen came twelfth and ZHNAG Guoyu placed thirty-sixth; Among 58 students who won the first prize of non-mathematic major, TAN Ao placed seventeenth.
The awards ceremony
CMC has become the most influential academic contest and earned the largest number of participants across the country, which aims at stimulating college students’ enthusiasm of learning mathematics, and at promoting the teaching quality of mathematics. 604 of 170787 participants were picked for the final from 31 competition areas in China in the round of the preliminary contest.
USTCers have always been outstanding in this competition, not only showing the solid foundation of our students’ mathematical and physical bases, but also proving the excellent effect of USTC’s mathematical basic courses.
