The projects of Youth Home and Joy Gym are running in the central campus of USTC, aiming to improve students' life satisfaction on campus.
Youth Home is set in the empty space of No.1 dormitory in the central campus as a shared space for better interactions among USTCers, and has been separated into different functional areas including workshops area, water bar, stage area, and recreational display area for cultural display, innovation roadshow, salon and other activities to meet the demands of students.
In the same way, Joy Gym has been built in the empty space of No.5 dormitory. Complementary to the functions of sports center in the central campus, this Joy Gym embraces several gym zones including aerobic exercise zone, weight training zone, free-weight training zone as well as rest area.
Both Youth Home and Joy Gym are equipped with large-area glass walls and fresh air conditioning system for excellent ventilation and lighting, online reservation system, wifi charging devices catering for users' preference, and environmentally friendly construction materials with distinguished colors, lighting, and styles in line with different functional areas for better user experience.
Youth Home opens from 8:30 to 23:30 every day to meet students' demand. Water bar normally closes at 20:00, but students can still swipe in. Joy Gym opens from 6:00 to 22:00 every day except for Tuesday. Also, the school purchased different gym equipment compared with the sports center, and recruited student volunteers to give training supports.

Since the running of these two projects, Youth Home and Joy Gym have covered various activities and demands for students in beverage service, gym, workshops, recreational interactions and small-scale performance, which plays an important role in cultural quality education in USTC. Also in turn, the cozy shared space for better interactions and high-quality service have gained widely recognition of USTCers.
