On the morning of 21 June 2021, the 9th "Challenge Cup" Anhui University Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition Exchange Camp and Award Ceremony was held, in which the students from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) won a total of 7 first prizes, 2 second prizes and 1 third prize. The school was awarded the "Winning Cup".

First Prize Presentation in "Challenge Cup" Anhui
In 2021 “Challenge Cup”, 285 projects from 70 colleges and universities entered the final round of the competition, covering various disciplines of natural sciences, philosophy and social sciences. These groups participated in an online defense on June 5 and 6, and 77 first-prize projects, 208 second-prize projects and 310 third-prize projects were selected.
USTC performed brightly in this competition. Seven projects, including "Machine Learning Based Optical Arbitrary Waveform Generator" by YANG Guangchanlan and his teammate from the School of the Gifted Young, won the first prize. Two projects, including "Microfluidic Integration Platform for the Preparation of Graphene Oxide" by LI Jieyun and her teammates from the School of Chemistry and Materials Science, won the second prize. "An Intelligent Storage Cart for Automatic Loading and Unloading" by LIU Zhuolin and his teammates from the School of Information Science and Technology, won the third prize.
To prepare for the competition, the school actively promoted the project through offline and online channels, explored the project in a targeted manner, and finally selected 10 candidate projects for the competition. In order to help the teams further improve their entries, the school also held several rounds of training and coaching on writing and defending their projects.
The national competition, after this provincial selection, will be held in Sichuan University in the second half of the year, and we look forward to the school’s performance in the following competition.
