On the morning of May 21st, Prof. YU Yugang, executive dean of School of Management of USTC, delivered the opening speech. A number of leading figures in this field were invited to deliver scientific reports. Coming from different universities, all of them illustrated their ideas and presented the according outcomes, which are of great diversity and prospective. Topics include reliable facility location problem, network design for transport service, electric vehicle charging management and route planning, queuing theory, dynamic carpooling pattern, surgery scheduling, bicycle-sharing maintenance and so on.
Though the forum was held online due to pandemic issue, the presentations were still impressive and thought provoking. Audiences asked questions actively and interacted with the scholars in depth through online streaming platform. Heated discussions continued after reports. And the attendance remained more than 500 during the whole forum.
The USTC Operations and Optimization International Forum for Young Scholars not only provided young scholars a platform for ideas to exchange and collapse, but also offered attending students a chance to get familiar with the frontier investigating methods, cultivating a new generation of young scholars and students with diversity, creativity, as well as practical capability.
