On the afternoon of October 28^th, 2023, the 54^th Student Sports Meeting of USTC completed all events and came to a successful closing ceremony. Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee LIN Gaohua, Deputy Director of the Undergraduate School Office WANG Tong, and Director of the Physical Education Center WANG Yong attended the closing ceremony and presented awards to the winning teams. Athlete representatives from various teams also participated in the closing ceremony, which was hosted by the Deputy Director of the Physical Education Center YIN Jianwei.

The results of each team were announced in sequence. In the undergraduate men's team total score, the top six teams were the School of the Gifted Young, the School of Physical Sciences, the School of Computer Science and Technology, the School of Engineering Science, the School of Earth and Space Sciences, and the School of Mathematical Sciences. The top six teams in the total score of the graduate men and women's teams were the School of Chemistry and Materials Science, the School of Physical Sciences, the joint team of the School of Environmental Science and Optoelectronic Technology and the Science Island Branch of the Graduate School, International College, the School of Management, and Hefei National Research Center for Microscale Materials Science.

This sports event, with over 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students from 29 colleges and research institutions, featured 50 track and field events and three fun activities: the group rope jump, the 50-meter round trip run, and tug-of-war competitions among four academies. Athletes challenged themselves in two days of intense competitions, earning applause from the audience.

One of the highlights of the 54^th Student Sports Meeting was the four academies' tug-of-war competition. The deans and vice-dean of Guangqi-Zhongying Academy, Shoujing Academy, Shizhen Academy, and Chongzhi Academy were present to cheer on their respective teams. After intense competition, Shoujing Academy won the championship, Chongzhi Academy secured second place, and Shizhen Academy claimed third place.

The 54^th Student Sports Meeting set three school records: CHEN Ting broke the women's 800m and 3000m records, and LIN Shijun broke the men's 5000m record. These two students demonstrated outstanding performance with the support from their coaches, WU Chenglin and WANG Lin. Their performance demonstrates the indomitable spirit and determination to reach new heights of USTC students.

The Student Sports Meeting is not only a grand sporting event for young people but also an important platform for fostering the physical and mental health of students and promoting their awareness of teamwork. We believe that the rhythm of physical exercise will continue to resonate throughout the campus, conveying a spirit of health and unity. USTC students will engage more passionately in their academic life and create new chapters of excellence for the whole university.
