USTC was ranked no.4 in Chinese Mainland and 25th in the 2014 QS Asian University Rankings, released May 13, 2014. The National University of Singapore (Nus) was top.
The U.S. News World's Best Universities rankings, based on the QS World University Rankings, evaluated schools in countries such as China, India, Singapore, and more, and identified these to be the top universities in Asia. The ranking uses 6 separate indicators: Asian Academic Reputation, Asian Employer Review, Faculty-Student Ratio, International Faculty, International Students, Citations per Paper.
Other Chinese Mainland Universities in the top 50 list are: Peking University was ranked 8th, Tsinghua University 14th, Fudan University 22st, Nanjing University 26th, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) 28th, Zhejiang University 31th, , Beijing Normal University 42th, Nankai University 50th.
