Sounds of Nature from the End of the World

    On the evening of Nov 10th, Icelandic Soprano Hallveig Rúnarsdóttir was invited to hold a concert in the East Hall of USTC. The piano performance is melodious, and the bel canto is beautiful and touching, which leads the audience to indulge in the music world.

    Iceland may be out of reach for many people, and it is the home of fantastic landscapes. It also owns different characteristics in the field of music. Hallveig Rúnarsdóttir, a national treasure of Iceland, has performed with Icelandic Symphony Orchestra and other orchestras around the world for many times. In order to popularize Icelandic culture, Embassy of Iceland invited her to perform in China for the first time, presenting wonderful songs from the end of the world to the Chinese audience.

    The concert was divided into two parts and lasts 90 minutes. The singing was loud and clear and suddenly turned to be soothing, which vividly showd the tension and beauty in love; sometimes the rhythm was bright and powerful, and the excited emotions jumped out of the singing, which ignited the emotions of the audience.

    During the intermission of singing, the piano accompaniment Hronn Práinsdóttir also brought the audience different music enjoyment from bel canto. The bright piano sound overflowed like the tide and filled every space in the hall. In addition to performing the songs from Iceland, Hallveig also brought the familiar Jiangsu folk song Jasmine and Xinjiang folk song A Cup of Great Wine, which won the applause of the audience.

    Icelandicmusicians brought the pure journey of music to USTC teachers and students. Such high-level performance had further improved the cultural quality of students, promoted the combination of science and technology with art. It also brought unique artistic enjoyment, created a strong artistic atmosphere in the campus.
