International Polymer Characterization Forum (POLY-CHAR) was held in Kathmandu, Nepal from May 18th-24th. SHI Yuchen, a Ph.D. student from the Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at the Microscale, won the 2019 Best Poster Award.
The award was chosen among the participant students and young researchers from more than 20 countries. It commends the outstanding young talents who have made outstanding contributions to the basic research on polymer science. The award also aims to encourage young scientists to participate in the research of polymer materials and promote the development of the field. It is the second time that student from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) have won this award at POLY-CHAR.

Dr. Henning, chair of the prize committee of the convention (Fraunhofer Institute Microstructure of Materials and Systems IMWS, Germany), is awarding Dr. Shi Yuchen the “Best Poster Award” certificate.
At the POLY-CHAR 2019 [Kathmandu] Conference, SHI Yuchen introduced his latest work progress, mainly design and synthesize a series of new viologen-ramification organic molecules with electrochromic-electroluminescence dual function. This work is of great significance for the exploration of new electrochromic devices, and also provides new ideas for realizing the multi-functionalization of smart windows.
POLY-CHAR international conferences initially focused on polymer characterization, but over the years have focused on the entire field of materials science and engineering (MSE). The main theme for POLY-CHAR 2019 [Kathmandu] is “Polymers for Sustainable Global Development”, which covers almost all the latest developments in polymers, providing excellent networking among senior scientists, young researchers, and students and experts from academia as well from industries. This event is also dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).
