Since 2009, Chinese Mathematical Society has held an annual Chinese Mathematics Competitions for College Students (CMC), which aims at cultivating students’ love for higher mathematics and arising its importance degree to college teachers and students. As a national high-level subject competition, it provides a stage for young students to show their mathematical skills and accumulates research materials for selecting excellent mathematical talents. Through this competition, Chinese Mathematical Society and the provincial mathematics associations hope that they could promote the teaching reform of mathematics courses among universities, stimulate the enthusiasm of college students in learning mathematics, as well as promote the selection and cultivation of innovative talents.
At present, Chinese Mathematics Competitions for College Students has become the most influential subject contest and owned the largest number of participants in the country. USTCers have always been outstanding in this competition, showing the solid foundation of students’ mathematical and physical skills, and also proving the excellent effect of USTC’s mathematical basic courses.
