A Brave Expedition of USTC archeology team to Iran

    The archeology team of  USTC were leaving for Iran to do research at the Borj relics of the Razavi Khorasan Province on Nov 1st. Their aim is to explore the relationship between the preliminary Iranian plateau living means and local civilization development, in cooperation with the University of Neyshabur.

    The program is one of the contents of the “Silk Road Technology and Civilization” key research project, which is to strengthen the liberal strength of USTC and in the meantime, implement the Belt and Road Initiative.  Many experts and administrators came to express their concern, blessings and hearty expectation in the farewell party.    


    "Representing USTC and Anhui, our field archaeology go abroad for the first time,”Prof. SHI Yunli concluded. He is the executive director of the institute of the history and archeology of technology and principal of the Silk Road Technology and Civilization Central Research Programs. 

    Prof. ZHANG Juzhong said on behalf of the team “Our team holds the belief that we will achieve amazing results there.” He also thanked Anhui Bureau of Cultural Relics, Anhui Institute of Archaeology, and the University for their support. 


    CAI Xiaoli, director of the Anhui Bureau of Cultural Relics (ABCR), was looking forward to more cooperation between USTC and the archeology industry of Anhui Province in the future to improve the cultural artifacts undertakings.

    Prof. SHI Yunli noted,  “The work about field is the beginning. From the viewpoint of scientific archaeology, it focuses on the relationship between early technology and the development of early civilization. Young teachers and students will learn from it. Not only will it promote the construction of scientific archaeology, but also pave the way for USTC and Anhui to face abroad.”

    A solemn flag ceremony was held. The National flag and team flag was given to USTC silk-road archaeologists.  The guests, archaeologists and representatives of teachers signed their names on the team flag.

    March on USTC archaeologists, till the victory is won!  Wish you a fruitful trip.


    Archaeology team members: 

    Prof. ZHANG Juzhong (leader), postdoc CHENG Zhijie and CUI Qilong, doctoral students FANG Fang and ZENG Lingyuan, graduates students GU Chunguang and HUANG chengqing. The project principle, Prof. SHI yunli will also participate the trip to confirm further collaboration with University of Neyshabur.
