On the morning of August 17th, the 60-year-old USTC welcomed more than 1,800 freshmen of 2018 undergraduates. The campus was laughter and cheers with new vitality.

This year, the university had simplified their admission procedures to better serve freshmen and their parents. Under the striking signs, the freshmen went through the formalities in an orderly manner.
On the spot, freshmen could not only receive the school badge and campus card and other items, but also receive a gift bag which contains the Undergraduate Learning Guide, Student Handbook and Life Guide etc. In addition, various departments had prepared special gift bags for freshmen to introduce all aspects of campus life and the latest information about the subject.

On the morning of 17th, university leaders SHU Gequn, BAO Xinhe etc. went to the East Conference Hall and student dormitory to visit the freshmen and their parents, and showed their caring to the faculty and student volunteers who participated in the freshmen orientation.
In order to reduce the hardships of freshmen and parents, the university had implemented various humanized measures. All departments and classes had established QQ and WeChat group to communicate with freshmen. Before the enrollment, the university used summer vocation to decorate the dormitory and dining halls and renovated the main streets of the campus. After arriving at the campus, freshmen could take the special school bus to get into the dormitory. Moreover, every freshman could get a set of beddings for free. All kinds of warm arrangements had been praised by freshmen and parents.
According to the arrangement, the university would hold a meeting of freshmen’s parents and the entrance examination for freshmen. After that, a series of orientation activities will be launched.
