The award acknowledges LV Song’s excellent research accomplishments. LV Song has published 9 SCI articles in top journals, filed 10 patents (8 issued) and wrote 2 book chapters (1 English-language) in the field of thermal science and energy engineering. In addition to the national and international research funds he participated, LU Song has presided the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities twice and the College Student Innovative Research Funds five times. Moreover, LV Song is on the Editorial Boards of journals such as Applied Energy, Energy and Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy. LV is also an inventor. Motivated by the sorrowful bike accidents, he invented the Smart Helmet based on the thermoelectric materials for low-temperature applications. The Smart Helmet utilizes the bicyclist’s body heat to power itself and to signal alerts for potential danger. The Smart Helmet not only improves safety but also helps reduce the bicyclist’s discomfort from sweating. The invention earned LU Song many distinguished awards such as the Grant Price of the 10th National University Student Social Practice and Science Contest on Energy Saving & Emission Reduction and the Grand Prix of the 45th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, the world’s most important event exclusively dedicated to inventions. LU Song has been recognized as the Golden Practitioner in Public Service by the China Central Television (CCTV) for his accomplishments.
