BAO Xinhe was awarded the CHEN Jiageng Science Award of Chemistry on May 30th.

BAO Xinhe, president of University of Science and Technology of China, won the CHEN Jiageng Science Awards of chemistry for his project named Nano-Limited Catalysis and Its Application in the Direct Conversion of Methane, at the award ceremony which was held at The 19th Assembly of CAS members. LIU he, the member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and vice premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, together with BAI Chunli, president of Chinese Academy of Sciences and related leaders presented the awards for winners.
Academician BAO Xinhe firstly proposed the concept of Nano-limited catalysis with his group, and in the study of catalytic conversion of synthetic gas, they found a new effective method of preparation for olefin and other high value chemicals theoretically, which is considered as a milestone event in the field of olefin synthesis.
CHEN Jiageng Science Award was set up in 2003 by the CHEN Jiageng Science Award Foundation. CHEN Jiageng Science Awards are presented in 6 fields and selected every two years.
