On the morning of February 23, Anhui Science and Technology Award Conference was convened in Hefei, the conference presented the 2016 and 2017 annual Science and Technology Award of Anhui Province. The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) has won two Major Science and Technology Achievement Award, four first prize awards of Natural Sciences Award, one first prize awards of Science and Technology Progress Award. In addition, there are five achievements won second prize, three achievements won the third prize.

LI Jinbin, the party secretary of Anhui province, and BAI Chunli, the president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), presented the awards to three winners of Major Science and Technology Achievement Award. Academician CHEN Xianhui from USTC was awarded the Major Science and Technology Achievement Award of Anhui Province in 2016, and academician XIE Yi from USTC and researcher WU Jianqi from the thirty-eighth Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation(CETC) won the Major Science and Technology Achievement Award of Anhui Province in 2017.
Academician CHEN Xianhui has long been engaged in superconductive materials and physics research. He has made a series of important achievements in the exploration of unconventional superconductors and functional materials and their physical research. He discovered the new superconductors including copper oxide, fullerene, iron-based and organic superconductors and other systems, which has made systematic and innovative achievements and he is an internationally influential scientist in this research field. Especially, his research that iron-based superconductor break Macmillan temperature limit of conventional superconductor under atmospheric pressure” made a breakthrough, the relevant achievements have been selected into the World’s Top Ten Science and Technology Progress News in 2008 and won the first prize award of National Natural Science Award in 2013. Academician CHEN has published more than 350 papers on SCI journals which includes Nature (3 articles), Science (1 article), Nature sub-journals (16 articles) and Physical Review Letters (34 articles), his papers have been cited more than 15000 times in total. Academician CHEN was awarded the Cheung Kong Scholar Achievement Award by the Ministry of Education of China and the Li Ka Shing Foundation respectively in 2008, the Chinese Physical Society YE Qi-sun (YEH Chi-sun) Prize and the Outstanding Scientific Research Team Award of Qiu Shi Science & Technologies Foundation in 2009, the first prize award of the National Natural Science Award in 2013, the Bernd T. Matthias Prize for Superconducting Materials in 2015 and won the first National Innovation Pioneer Medal and Science and Technology Progress Award of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation in 2017 and other important domestic and international awards.
Academician XIE Yi has long been engaged in the research of inorganic solid state chemistry and has made a series of innovative achievements in the field of Nano solid state chemistry, especially in the important frontier field of inorganic functional solid design and synthesis based on the electrical and acoustic system. Academician XIE has published more than 330 papers on SCI journals which includes Nature and its sub-journals (8 articles), Science (1 article), and 66 articles on the Journal of the American Chemical Society, Angewandte Chemie International Edition and Advanced Materials. Cited by SCI more than 20,000 times, her papers have been cited more than 20000 times in total. Her personal H factor is 83, and has been selected consecutively as the Most Cited Chinese Researchers in Elsevier. Academician XIE won the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 1998, and was awarded as Distinguished Professor of Cheung Kong Scholar by the Ministry of Education of China in 2000. She has won the second prize of National Natural Science Award twice, the Young Scientist Award of China in 2002, the Young Scientist Award of China in 2006, and the first National Innovation Pioneer Medal and Science and Technology Progress Award of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation in 2017 and other important national awards. In addition, for international awards, XIE was the first Chinese scholar to receive the Outstanding Woman Award of International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry in 2013, won the Chemistry Prize by the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World in 2014 and the L'Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science awards in 2015, she also as the first scholar outside the United States won the Outstanding Award of Nano Science.
USTC as the first completion unit, its achievements including "Research on the Coupling Between Upper Atmosphere, Lower Atmosphere and Ionosphere" and "Research on the Discovery of New Subpopulation of Natural Killer and Mechanism of Their Related Diseases" won the first prize awards of Natural Science Award of Anhui Province in 2016, "Research on the Theory and Approach of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) in Distributed Decision-making Environment" won the first prize award of Natural Science Award of Anhui Province in 2017, "Dark Matter Particle Detection Satellite Core Detector-BGO Quantum Energy Device" won the first prize award of Science and Technology Progress Award of Anhui Province in 2017. Meanwhile, eight achievements such as "Mesozoic Magma and Polymetallic Mineralization of the area around the Yangtze River in Anhui Province" won the second and third prize awards of Science and Technology Award of Anhui Province.
