On November 21, the delegation of the Consulate General of Israel in Shanghai, headed by the Consul General Dr. Eyal Propper came. USTC Vice President CHEN Chusheng met them in the Administrative Building of East Campus.

Professor CHEN Chusheng extended warm welcome and gave an introduction to USTC and scientific achievements. CHEN said that USTC has always maintained sound cooperation with Israel’s universities and USTC delegation just wrapped up its visit to Israel’s universities. “Hope more frequent exchanges in science and technology and education can be boosted in light of the Belt and Road Initiative,” he said.

Dr. Eyal Propper stated that he was greatly honored to visit USTC, one of the best universities in the world and he is willing to further deepen exchanges and collaboration between USTC and the universities of Israel in multiple fields like education, technology, culture. Odyssey Program, a talented young program initiated by The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, possessing somehow similar education philosophy of the School of the Gifted Young of USTC. He said he hopes that both sides will strengthen cooperation on the program and innovate on education patterns .
Israel, officially the State of Israel, is a country in the Middle East, on the southeastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea and the northern shore of the Red Sea. Israeli scientists’ contributions to physics, genetics, computer science, optics have always been remarkable. Israel has produced ten Nobel laureates and has been frequently ranked as one of the countries with the highest ratios of scientific papers per capita in the world. Top four universities in Israel are The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel Institute of Technology, Weizmann Institute of Science and Tel Aviv University.
