On the afternoon of July 19, a Macau youth delegation of some 30 students visited the Institute of Advanced Technology and Maker Center of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and communicated with student makers.

Mr. CAO Cheng from Maker Center extended his warmest welcome to the delegation and introduced to the Macau group about the development of Maker Center. In 2015, in response to the call of mass entrepreneurship and innovation and full play of science, technology and talent, USTC determined to establish a maker space to serve faculty and students who are interested in social science and technology entrepreneurial projects, contributing to regional economic development.
Two innovation and entrepreneurship programs, titled as “Alpha-Skin Smart Wearable Skin” and “Study on the Structural Colors of the Morpho Butterfly on Mental Surfaces Based on Femtosecond Laser Micronao-technology” led by student makers, ZHANG Zhidong from the School of Physical Sciences and ZHANG Zhen from the School of Engineering Science, found their way into Maker Center in May, 2015. Thanks to the advisory group of Maker Center, two programs are growing more mature by attending road shows and symposiums and have won in a variety of competitions. Student makers and Macau youth exchanged views on entrepreneurship and shared startup experiences.
The visit to the exhibition hall of innovative achievements and the physical space of Maker Center offered a great chance for Macau youth to get an inside glimpse into the latest advances of Anhui Province in artificial intelligence, biomedicine, public safety and new energy and etc.
