On Sept.11th, signing ceremony of MOU on fire research was held among FM Global, State Key Laboratory of Fire Science (SKLFS) and Institute of Advanced Technology (IAT) at Lecture Hall of SKLFS. The MOU would open further international cooperation between USTC and FM Global on the frontiers of fire research.
The MOU signing will be a milestone for further international cooperation between USTC and FM Global on the frontiers of fire research.
Representatives from FM Global were Dr. Sergey B. Dorofeev, Research Area Director for Fire Hazards and Protection and Dr. WANG Yi, Group Manager of Fire Dynamics while Director ZHANG Heping, Secretary SONG Weiguo, Vice Director LIU Laian, Vice Director SUN Jinhua from SKLFS, and IAT Executive Director LU Shouxiang and IAT Assistant Director WANG Bing also attend the meeting. Prof. LIU Naian hosted the ceremony.
Prof. ZHANG Heping spoke highly of this ceremony as a new and important start point for SKLFS-FM Global-IAT further cooperation. Dr. Sergey B. Dorofeev reviewed past collaboration with SKLFS and looked forward for more cooperation for sound, economy, practical results in fire experiment, insurance, regulation codes and standards, modeling and fire protection technology and etc. He also wished that communications on fire science research, fire risk assessment and advanced fire protection technology would be furthered.
LIU Naian read out all the details of MoU. Then Dr. Dorofeev, Prof. ZHANG and Dr. WANG Bing signed on the MoU. According to this MoU, three parties would cooperate on fire experiment and modeling, especially further development of fire measurement technology and advanced fire simulation software, aiming at setting up an international fire modeling center in SKLFS. It also focused on some plans of mutual visiting, training, and academic communications.
FM Global is one of the largest property insurance and loss prevention engineering companies in the world, with a very famous research center in fire science and engineering, especially in property loss prevention related investigation and product test. In past years, SKLFS cooperated in many aspects with FM Global research center. For example, Dr. John de Ris, former chief scientist of FM Global, was selected twice as China Academy of Sciences Visiting Professorship for Senior International Scientists and fulltime worked in SKLFS for one year.
