The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) has ranked No. 3 in the mainland and 21st in Asia in the latest Asia University Rankings published by the Times Higher Education (THE) magazine.
Based on the comprehensive performance indicators and methodology established in THE World University Rankings, the THE Asia University Rankings 2014 uses 13 separate performance indicators to examine each university’s strengths against its core missions of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. This year’s top 100 universities in Asia come from 13 countries or regions, including 18 universities in the mainland (3 more than last year).
According to the ranking, the top 10 Chinese universities are Tsinghua University, Peking University, USTC , Fudan University, Renmin University of China, Nanjing University , Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University,Wuhan University of Technology and Sun Yat-sen University.
At the same time, USTC has also ranked No. 3 in the mainland according to University Quality Standard in Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS).
Ben Swalt, research director of QS brain box said Mainland Universities Ranking reflected the education investment of the government in the past 20 years.”To be much more inclusive even to compete with ivy league in United States, Oxford University and Cambridge University become clear target after a long development.” he emphasized.
