Till the year of 2013, USTC has been among the best universities whether in the total number of prize-winning papers or in the rate of getting awarded. It has 51 papers nominated for ‘National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award’, among which 45 papers gained the award, ranking it the 5th of all the universities in China.
Recently, the Ministry of Education, Training and Research Degrees Committee of the State Council issued document [2014] No.1-‘Decision approving the 2013 National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation’, announced officially the results of annual award winners. Again, USTC became a big winner, with 5 graduates in the winners’ list, ranking 3rd right after PKU and THU. Besides, 5 other graduates were awarded ‘National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award’ nominations.

National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award is one of the domestically acknowledged standards for evaluating the capability of universities in training graduates, reputation in society and competence in graduate education. According to authentic statistics, till the year of 2013, USTC has been among the best universities whether in the total number of prize-winning papers or in the rate of getting awarded. It has 51 papers nominated for ‘National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Awards’, among which 45 papers gained the award, ranking it the 5th of all the universities in China.
The awards gained by USTC graduates added honor and fame to the university, expanding the influence of USTC. This comes from excellent ethos of USTC, hardworking of students, careful instructions of their instructors as well as PhD quality projects conducted in recent years. On the base of this good news, we will keep working on the notion of training elites, developing reformation of graduate education and perfecting system of quality-proof and supervision, further improving the quality of postgraduate training.
