Alumnus Lloyd Pinas, Ambassador of Suriname, and his associates visited School of Public Affairs on 27th April. Professor Song Wei, Dean of School of Public Affairs, Professor Shi Yunli, Professor Lv Lingfeng, Professor Shi yumin , Associate Professor Chu Jianxun, faculty and graduates student representatives of School of Public Affairs have passionate discussion with him in the conference room.
Dean of the School professor Song wei expressed his warm welcome to the Ambassador. He described the work done by School of Public Affairs in graduate education, international cooperation, high-end training, social services, etc.; The School of Public Affairs is actively engaged in national and local economic and social development, and with the relevant government departments, to carry out multi-directional cooperation. He also mentioned that our training programs are very much appreciated by the companies.
Ambassador Lloyd Pinas said that he was glad having the opportunity to visit his alma mater, where the beautiful learning environment, the rapid development trend has left a deep impression to him. He hopes to collaborate with the School of Public Affairs in terms of student training, training professionals and government officials. Ambassador Lloyd Pinas was pleased to receive the invitation by Dean Song wei, as a program professor for School of Public Affairs.
After the meeting, Ambassador Lloyd Pinas gave the speech to the students in the fifth teaching building of USTC. He introduced the history and development of Suriname in recent years, and recalled the Suriname and China good bilateral relations, traces 160 years of Suriname and China exchange history, he introduced geographic, political, economic, natural resources, relations with other countries and prospects for future cooperation.
He also discussed the current hot topics such as trade and investment issues, infrastructure construction, environmental protection, medicine and the development of the Amazon forest traditions, multicultural development. He interacted with the students and teachers and gave interesting and knowledgeable answers to their questions; his speech was in very lively atmosphere because students were actively involved in the interaction. Suriname’s beautiful natural environment, distinctive culture and history left a good impression on students of the university.
