On 12th of March 2014, the School of Public Affairs’ (PAS)Dean Prof. Song Wei took a delegation of International and Chinese PhD students to a fast growing Joint Stock Company ASCG Co., Ltd in the field of engineering and Construction to understand the Chinese philosophies of speedy development and its implications in the context of Public policy. The delegation left around 2:30 to visit ASCG Company where it was warmly received by the officials of their site engineers who took them in the working site of their management building and highlighted different aspects of their endeavors. The group was taken in the main building where they saw different achievement (national and provisional) awards received by this fast growing Joint Stock Company.
Proper briefing was given by the top officials of the company which was presided by Professor Song Wei, Dean PAS, USTC and Chief Executive Officer of the ASGL Company in which the officials highlighted their recent projects going on and how their strategies are pursuing them. The delegation learnt how this provisional level company is working in close coordination with the state level companies to take mega projects in the field of Engineering and Construction. The company has 40:60 public verses private share holders and various supervisory committees in different section. The company has well qualified employees recruited through a proper recruitment and selection procedures and invest in their continuous development. This company has many international assignments especially in the African continent and has many excellent quality awards in different fields of their working areas.
The delegation asked many queries regarding their progress and nature of the business which were duly clarified by the relevant officials of the company. CEO on this occasion appreciated Prof. Song Wei efforts to bring closer the public verses private partnership in exchanging the mutual ideas for the development of Chinese economy. He also applauded the visit of international students and claimed such visits boost us to lunch our activities across the globe where they can guide us by their academic contributions in our related field. Prof. Song showed great satisfaction over the treatment and warm welcome to the international and Chinese PhD students’ delegation by the Company and said that the School of Public Affairs will always strive to work for understanding the issues and challenges faced by the industries and find jointly its remedies. The company CEO and other top officials showed the great example of their traditional Chinese hospitality by hosting a superb fest in which all the participants shared their cultural and traditional discussion and international students which consist of Asia, Europe, Middle East and Africa were happy of this great cultural event in the end of this learning trip.
In the end Prof Song and CEO of ASGL Company made hand shake with the intention to keep such brain storming events continue for the development of academic and industry relations. CEO and Managing Director of the Company made see off to this delegation and returned back safely to the school. The International students showed great satisfaction and pleasure on the Prof. Song’s way of managing activities to provide maximum exposure to Chinese and international students.
