Prof. SUN Jinhua from State Key Laboratory of Fire Science (SKLFS) of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) was honored with the title of Advanced Worker of Anhui at the award ceremony for model workers, advanced workers and advanced groups of Anhui province held on November 8th.

Prof. SUN Jinhua, deputy director of SKLFS, is a patriotic man, devoting himself to brighter prospects of Anhui province and the cause of science and education in China.

In 1995, SUN was admitted to the University of Tokyo and acquired his doctorate with an outstanding performance within three years before he furthered his studies in Japan.

However, when the nation called in 2002, he went back to China and joined USTC to contribute to the development of his motherland without hesitation. Under the support of USTC, he headed dozens of research projects including a National Program on Key Basic Research Project of China (973 Program) and two key projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, obtaining several national and provincial rewards and achieving progress in new energy fire safety and industrial and architectural fire safety.

Besides being a scientist, SUN is also an educator that cultivates useful talents for society, earning him the title of excellent graduate supervisor of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The awarding ceremony is held once every five years, aiming at promoting the idea that labor is the most glorious and encouraging all people of Anhui province to commit to the development of Anhui. This year a total of 490 model workers, 215 advanced workers and 98 advanced groups were awarded.
