From October 26th to December 31th, China Science and Technology Museum (CSTM), in collaboration with National Natural History Museum of China and National Science Fiction Film Screening Association, organized the 2023 Scientists’ Spirit Movie Tour, namely Science Dream in Light and Shadow. Five microfilms of the Scientists’ Spirit series produced by the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in cooperation with Xinhua Net and Xinhua News Agency in Anhui have been selected for this movie tour.

On the morning of October 26th, REN Haihong, deputy director of CSTM, SHEN Linqi, publicity director of China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), FANG Heihu, executive dean of the Archives and Museum of USTC, and FAN Qiong, deputy director of the Party Committee Propaganda Department of USTC, announced the start of the tour. Members of Shandong Science and Technology Museum and more than 300 teachers and students from USTC also attended the launching ceremony.

At the ceremony, dean FANG Heihu reviewed the story of the renowned physicist YAN Jici and commend the selected films. He said that these films portrayed scientists with distinctive personalities and noble spirits, and recreated the hardship Chinese scientists went through to establish prosperity of our country.

The five selected movies include True to One’s Original Aspiration, Bright is the Moon over My Hometown, the Light of Science, Eternal East Wind, and the Spring of Science. The Spirit of Scientists movie series is an important medium for planting the seeds of science in the minds of young people. This movie tour will inject powerful spiritual strength into the general public, especially teenagers, inciting their love and passion for science.
