Recently, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China announced the results of the selection of outstanding popular science works nationwide for the year 2023. The "Small Virus, Big World" Health Science Picture Book, created by USTC Associate Professor LIU Huan’s team, has won this honor.

This set of picture books aims to explore the mysteries and wonders of life, convey the concept of scientific understanding of viruses and help children and adolescents establish a correct health outlook. Ever since its publication, this set of picture books has won multiple awards and received lots of praise from readers. As president XI has pointed out: “The most powerful weapon mankind has against diseases is science and technology”, the creation of “Small Virus, Big World” demonstrates the tremendous power of science and technology, as well as the great spirit of scientists, in the battle between humanity and viruses.
