The 8th International Cultural Festival of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) successfully concluded at the East Campus Student Activity Center. The event was organized by the International College and attracted around 2,500 students and faculty members, who enjoyed a vibrant cultural exchange. The theme of this year’s event was “Connecting the World, Shaping the Future – Say Hello to the World.”
The festival opened with enthusiastic hosting by students from Ghana, Nepal, Indonesia, and China, instantly energizing the crowd. The Director of the Office of International Cooperation welcomed the participants and thanked all supporting departments for their contributions. Afterward, awards related to academics and culture were presented to outstanding international students.
The event featured captivating performances: a Peking Opera piece showcased traditional Chinese art, while Indian students dazzled with lively Bollywood dances. Tango routines by Argentine and Chilean students, along with a medley from Pakistan and Uzbekistan, highlighted cultural unity. Additional performances included a Bangladeshi song, Nigerian poetry, a Malaysian guitar solo, and a Sudanese wedding dance, each showcasing unique cultural expressions.
At the cultural booths, students explored diverse traditions through food, clothing, language, and games, fostering cross-cultural understanding and mutual respect. As the festival drew to a close, it left lasting memories, deepened bonds among students, and celebrated USTC's spirit of openness.
USTC looks forward to welcoming more international students into our community. Together, we can foster global connections and create a brighter future for the world.
