Dr. Peksen has been about 8 years the scientific head and contact person in multiphysics simulation and modelling at the Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ), Germany. Dr. Peksen started his academic career in mechanical engineering in Turkey, at the Technical University of Istanbul. This was followed by a Masters degree in mechanical engineering at the RWTH Aachen University, DE. He was a visiting scholar in USA at the University of Massachussetts and was conferred with a PhD in computational fluid dynamics from Loughborough University, UK. He is the sole inventor of the current Jülich SOFC fuel cell design (Patent file EP2372825 - Fuel cell module) and has been awarded from various research institutions world-wide. His broad research interests are in 3D Computer assisted (CFD & FEM) conceptual design, material and process optimisation of components, assemblies and complex systems for high-tech engineering applications. He is consortium partner of the European Union Project SAPIEN- SOFC Auxiliary Power in Energy efficient New Transport and has also been participant in all major EU SOFC Projects. He is also the founder and managing director of the 3D simulation assisted R&D company Multiphysics Energy Solutions (MES) located at the Technology Center Jülich, Germany. He represents the field of Multiphysics/Simulation at Aachen University of Applied Sciences, Germany, teaching as an Adjunct Professor "Multiphysics modelling of functional materials and components"- the methodology of modelling coupled physical interactions, simulating and analysing materials and components.
